Our beginnings were based on the demand for Antique mirror frames and their beautiful finishes which have embellished homes and buildings around the world for centuries. Fortnightly trips to Paris and beyond unearthed many treasures but in recent years mirror frames have been progressively harder to find but the demand for mirror frames ever increasing.

 Peter trained as a gilder in London and has over twenty years experience working in London and France as an antiques dealer and restorer. Peter now lives in Byron Bay with his Australian wife Sarah and their two children. Peter's extensive knowledge of  antique mirrors and custom framing combined with his skill as a restorer has led to the creation of Subtle Finish's unique range of handmade frames and mirrors. Peter custom makes every mirror and frame so that your needs are perfectly met.

Subtle Finish is unique in that the traditional methods, skills and materials used by the French and English artisans of the 19th Century are implemented in the present day to give the same quality and finish.
